March 11, 2010 Elliott Brown joins prestigious panel in Washington at the Center for American Progress to discuss a national, accessible approach to career navigation. "In this economy, it's no longer enough to prepare for one job or one career over a lifetime. It's time to start talking about how careers really work."


February 23, 2010 Elliott Brown attends The Gathering of Leaders. Elliott joined fellow social entrepreneurs and leaders from business, government, philanthropy, academia, and the nonprofit sector to catalyze the development of new ideas, relationships, and resources so that social entrepreneurs and their counterparts can scale social innovation and transform public problem solving on a broad scale.


October 26, 2009 Mark Guterman, Springboard Forward’s Lead Coach and Trainer, named a 2009 Purpose Prize Fellow. The Fellowship is an honor for social entrepreneurs over 60 who are using their experience and passion to take on society’s biggest challenges. The Purpose Prize is part of the Encore Careers campaign run by Civic Ventures, a national think tank on boomers, work and social purpose.


July 31, 2009 Emily Schaffer-Kling, Springboard Forward Director of Programs, inducted into Leadership San Francisco 2009–2010 class. Leadership SF is an affiliate organization of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce dedicated to educating and developing community trustees who will make a significant contribution to strengthen and transform our community.



June 30, 2009 Elliott Brown joins the President of the United States and the nation’s top innovators at the White House. President Obama hosted a White House event to articulate the Community Solutions Agenda and highlight innovative non-profit programs, including Springboard Forward, that offer new solutions to America’s most intractable social problems. “If we work together—if we all go all-in here—think about the difference we can make. Think about the impact we could have with just the organizations represented in this room.”

The President called on foundations, philanthropists, and others in the private sector to partner with the government to find and invest in these innovative, high-impact solutions. “What you all do is important in any year,” he said. “But at this particular moment, when we're facing challenges unlike any we've seen in our lifetime, it's absolutely critical, because while we're working hard to rebuild our economy and help people who are struggling, let's face it, there's only so much that Washington can do. Government can't do everything and be everywhere—nor should it be.”

June 15, 2009 Don Kennedy, President Emeritus of Stanford University, joins Springboard Forward Board of Directors. Springboard Forward is honored to welcome Don to the Board. He has served as Advisor for several years, and now shares his considerable experience and expertise in a hands-on capacity. In addition to his years as President and Provost of Stanford University, Don recently stepped down as Editor-in-Chief of Science Magazine and has also served as Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.



May 12, 2009 Springboard Forward selected to join America Forward. America Forward is a coalition of results-oriented, entrepreneurial nonprofit organizations working to solve some of the most pressing problems facing our nation. The organization is supported by leaders in business, politics, philanthropy, and academia who believe social entrepreneurship presents a valuable model for approaching social problem-solving in an efficient and effective way.


April 16, 2009 Elliott Brown presents at the 10th Annual Social Enterprise Summit in New Orleans. Elliott and co-presenter, Rick Aubry offered lessons on “Building Social Enterprise for Scale” from their pursuit of two distinct and sustainable models: Springboard Forward and Rubicon Programs, Inc.


December 5, 2008 Founder Elliott Brown selected for next class of American Leadership Forum (ALF) of Silicon Valley. Through its Fellows Program, ALF brings together demonstrated leaders across private, public and nonprofit sectors to explore processes of collaborative leadership that can strengthen their capacity to address public issues in Silicon Valley. A select group of up to 25 fellows is selected each year—leaders from multiple sectors with various backgrounds and interests. The program centers on the premise that good leadership requires a sense of civic responsibility, a positive vision, and the ability to foster a climate of trust and open dialogue among diverse constituencies, along with collaborative problem-solving skills.

November 8, 2008 “What if it were possible . . . for 71% of the workforce to be actively engaged in the work they do each day?” Springboard Forward Founder Elliott Brown and Lead Coach Mark Guterman challenged an audience of Career Development professionals to consider a fundamentally new approach as they delivered a keynote presentation at the 2008 International Career Development Conference in Los Angeles. Brown and Guterman presented Springboard Forward’s unique business-based approach as a prime example of how the fields of Career Development and Workforce Development can evolve to meet the needs of today’s workforce in today’s changing economy.


September 3, 2008 Springboard Forward named 2008 Innovation Award finalist by the Social Venture Network. June 16, 2008 Springboard Forward partners with Goodwill San Francisco to deliver the Engaged Employment™ Program to 58 employees at Goodwill retail outlets throughout San Mateo, San Francisco, and Marin counties.

September 18, 2007 Robert Reich recognizes the work of Springboard Forward in his talk to Commonwealth Club and National Public Radio audience. "Organizations like Springboard Forward are exceedingly important in order that companies know how they can be profitable and also achieve social objectives." Springboard Forward Advisory Board member, Robert Reich, discussed his new book, Supercapitalism: The Transformation of Business, Democracy, and Everyday Life to a full-capacity Commonwealth Club audience at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco September 17. Reich joined Springboard Forward for a reception following the event. "If the free market was working correctly," Reich told supporters, "it would have invented Springboard Forward a long time ago."




November 20, 2006 Springboard Forward named 2007 Social Capitalist Award winner and recognized for a second time by Fast Company/Monitor Group. "The amazing organizations that received the Fast Company/Monitor Group Social Capitalist Awards have found a better way to do good: They're using the disciplines of the corporate world to tackle daunting social problems. In our fourth exclusive ranking, we used a similarly hard-nosed approach to find the 43 best social entrepreneurs."



November 1, 2006 Springboard Forward launches 3-year Business Demonstration Project to statistically establish the link between the Engaged Employment™ Progam and business profits.



March 15, 2006 Springboard Forward Partners with Kenexa. A publicly traded company that provides hiring and retention solutions globally, Kenexa measures the relationship between employee engagement and profitability for retailers and nearly half of the nation’s Fortune 500 companies.



November 17, 2005 Elliott Brown, Founder and Executive Director of Springboard Forward named international Ashoka Fellow.
