The Engaged Employment™ Program
Good for people, good for business, good for communities
Springboard Forward’s Engaged Employment™ Program is a fundamentally new, results-oriented model delivered in partnership with our business clients. The Engaged Employment™ Program doesn’t teach people how to get a job or how to do their jobs. Our program inspires people to develop a long-term vision for career mobility that starts with engaging in the job they have today and using that job as a springboard for improving their economic future. No other program available has our unique focus, our program scope, or our commitment to one-on-one professional-level coaching for entry-wage employees.
Program components. Springboard Forward delivers its
year-long Engaged Employment program in the workplace as a combination of workshops and one-and-one coaching to help workers tap into their individual potential for career mobility. We take a multi-faceted approach that requires a synthesis of reflection, analysis, guidance, and action.
- Career Mapping kicks off the path to engaged employment with a nine-step exploratory course designed to help clients discover and articulate their skills, experience, interests, values, and strengths. We initiate the development of a personalized and realistic plan for researching new career paths guided by their own interests and aspirations. The career-mapping component of the program is intended to empower clients with a sense of control and direction while encouraging them to think of their current job as part of a continuous process of building capabilities for upward career mobility.
- Professionally trained career coaches work with clients to create career development plans, holding them accountable to these plans through regular onsite meetings. Coaching sessions incorporate task-oriented action plans and skills-building homework assignments to achieve short-term and long-term goals. The client’s supervisor is included in select coaching sessions to garner critical management support.
- Manager training helps supervisors and managers understand the elements of our Engaged Employment™ Program and the benefits and challenges of providing support. This vital component of our program helps managers recognize that supporting employee development is directly and positively connected to employee motivation, performance, and retention. Workshop exercises help managers and supervisors identify the skills they need to effectively support the career development of their workforce.
